Speaking at Hospital Grand Rounds by The Evidence Based Chiropractor
This morning I spoke at Florida Hospital Carrollwood regarding interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary care of patients with chronic spine pain. Ironically, all of the attending MD's will get CME credit for attending my presentation, yet my own state chiropractic board does not recognize this as CE for me! In attendance were orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, PA's, ARNP's, neuro-radiologists, hospital administrators, spine implant representatives, and a host of other allied health professionals.
Speaking at your local hospital during grand rounds is a great way to meet fellow physicians in your area and also position yourself as the local expert in conservative spine care. Many surgeons and hospital-based physicians are unaware of "what", "how", and "why" of chiropractic care. Presenting research from peer-reviewed journals (essentially their journals) on the efficacy and safety of chiropractic care can be very powerful.
I highly recommend that my members attend their local grand rounds. The opportunity to gather information and case conference with other health professionals is certainly worth your time. Also, you may put yourself in a position to be one of the few chiropractors who have spoken at such events.
